FinCEN officially takes effect on March 1 (in a couple of days), but what real estate professionals need to know about the new U.S. Treasury rules aimed at curbing money laundering involving residential real estate tractions will continue to evolve. That’s why we’re holding a FREE webinar for our fellow real estate pros with our underwriter friends with the FNF Family of Companies in a couple of weeks.

Here’s more about the event:

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has promulgated a new rule to disclose cash transactions to entities and/or trusts. See CFR 1031.320. Title Professionals may be affected by this rule as they are within the purview of reporting persons according to FinCEN.

This course prepares those who may be affected by this rule as they are within the purview of reporting persons, and how to comply with this regulation that takes effect March 1, 2026.

The course looks at the “nuts and bolts” the basic, practical, and essential aspects of what the FinCEN rule places on the Reporting Person. It will look at whether a residential financial transaction is reportable by reviewing the type of transaction (residential, non-financed), the presence of anti-money laundering programs, and specific exclusions related to trusts and entities. The student will come to understand the use of certifications and the reasonable reliance standard. It also cautions where the student may engage in the unauthorized practice of law.
